Term 4 is officially underway!

 Wow! I cannot believe how fast time is flying. Here at SGU we have 5 terms of basic sciences before starting clinical rotations. I am currently in Term 4 (of 5). We are going to experience our first real patient encounters this term. I’m excited but also a little nervous. I’m sure as things progress it will continue to get better though. It has only officially been 1 year since I started medical school but so much has happened. I’m definitely here for the growth that I’ve experienced and I’m ready to take things up a notch. Alright so the final grades are in. If you got what you wanted, congratulations I'm so happy for you 🎉🎉 and if you didn't I'm still proud of you too ❤️. Term 4 is a beast and congratulations to us all for sticking it out.  As you all know, I failed T4 the first time but I came back with a vengeance. I realized that all along I was not studying in a way that was efficient for me. Once I switched my methods this term, everything changed. I realized that making concept maps 1000000% is the way that I learn best. I am excited to carry this with me into T5. If you have found that your study strategies aren't working for you and you aren't seeing the grades that you want I advise you to consider your method. It's not you, it's your method. You just have to figure out what the method is for you. For everyone it is gonna be different. You have to keep that in mind. I don't do anki and others swear by it. New Beginnings

Hey y'all! My name is Candace and I'm an incoming 1st year Medical Student. I am absolutely ELATED that this is finally happening. My childhood dreams are finally coming true. My journey to medicine has been far from traditional but I wouldn't change a thing. I recently graduated with my Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences from Barry University. All of the hardships I have experienced in the last 3 years have molded me into a stronger woman who is ready to conquer whatever challenges may come my way. It has been far from easy but I try my best to take it all in stride. I am looking forward to all the things I will experience over these next 4 years! Week 4 of Medical School is now Complete :)

 Hey y'all, My 4th week of medical school is officially done. I had my first exam at the beginning of the week. There are a lot of adjustments to be made during the first few weeks of school. I quickly learned that some of the things I did for grad school I can't do here because there simply isn't time. I would listen to lectures over and over in grad school. I can't do that here because we are getting like 18-20 lectures a week between the online classes and the prerecorded ones called DLA's that we have to do on our own. I also have peer learning groups that I am required to attend each week as well in addition to my small groups. The volume can be overwhelming but that is why time management is key. I plan out every moment of my day from when I wake up until when I go to bed. This includes everything literally when I'm going to eat, take breaks, exercise, you name it!
